Not all all... the template is just code e.g. vbulletin, phpBB, wordpress, etc... they are all "templates".

Yeah, and I have seena really messy front page based site that didn't even load or render properly rank well for some semi competetive terms.

I still like to produce my own hand coded sites but thats just me.

Although Dreamweaver does tend to add a lot of redundant code into pages. Wont overly affect your page, just tidies up the code really, and ensures the spiders dont have as much work to do in order to find the content on your pages

No a Dreamweaver coded tempalted will not effect your rankings. It can be read. A photoshop template cannot be read so you cannot really optimize your pages which can effect rankings.

Don't mean to be funny, but why would a photoshop template even come into the equation. Photoshop is purely a graphics application.

Because photohsop has an automated feature to make photo galleries. I use it all the time. You can created hundreds of pages with your photos. It works pretty good.
