Hi everyone. New here and hoping that someone might have some advice for me.

I have a bath product site that is over a year old. www.fantasybath.com. I have used adwords and overture for over three months to drive some business my way because I don't show up in google and yahoo shows my site rather sporadically.

Googlebot visits every night, but I still haven't shown up and have a PR of 0. About two weeks ago, I did some research and modified some info in my html to hopefully help things, but still nothing is showing up on my main keywords "bath bombs", "soy candles" and "body butter bars".

I have read recently about link-backs and submitted a few to a link-trade partner site where I chose sites that I thought were similar to mine in content and product offerings. I was disappointed by most of the results. I either ended up buried between viagra ads and real estate offerings or I received no response at all.

I have about 1100 unique visitors a month to my site, but all of it is from adwords, overture and gifts.com, which is costing me a fortune and I'm not going to be able to keep it up very much longer. I was hoping to only use those until I could get ranked & indexed on the search terms that I'm now paying for.

Are link-backs the primary reason I'm not being ranked and indexed or is there something else I'm missing. I admit that I know very little about google's SEO and a lot of it seems shrouded in mystery!

Thanks to anyone who can offer advice and counsel. I'm stumped as to what to do next.

As far as expectations go, I know where I stand with my competetion in the web market with my particular product line. I have realistic expectations. I never commented that I expected to be in the top of the search engines, I only asked advice on how to begin the process of ranking.

And the sites I submitted to did seem to be complementary to my product line, although they didn't necessary link me back on a main link page, but threw me into a hidden link farm. Had I known about the viagra and real estate, I would not have chosen them as a trade partner. I realize they are no help to me. I have removed them from my link site as a result.

I will keep looking for good link partners.
